Kennett Board of Education:

The Kennett Board of Education for Kennett District 39 is comprised of seven members, elected each April by the voting public, to three-year terms served on a rotating basis.  The board members, in turn, elect officers to terms of one year.  The board meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, at 5:30 p.m., in the Kennett High School Conference Room.  The meetings are open to the public.

KENNETT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

The Kennett Christian Academy, at 1321 Kennett St., is a co-ed private school, affiliated with the Pentecostal religious denomination.  It offers classes from first grade through high school, with a 1:6 teacher-student ratio.  For information, call 573-888-2520.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY--KENNETT CAMPUS
Kennett is one of several designated regional campuses of Southeast Missouri State University. Within the 20,000 square feet facility, undergraduate and graduate courses are taught via the traditional classroom setting and interactive television (ITV).  Follow the link:  www.semo.edu

Kennett businesses and community members have demonstrated support for the campus, with generous donations for the facility, training equipment and scholarships.  Significant contributors include Kennett National Bank, Larry and Nancy Swindle, Kennett Community Development Corporation, Pauline Mizell Aukes and Dr. Lewis Aukes, the Simcoke Family and Sheryl Crow.

The Kennett campus has a history of working with local industry to offer customized training that fulfills local workforce development needs.  University resources are available to facilitate all types business and industry training.  One example is the new Kennett Business Service Center, housed on the campus.  It provides small business and technology venture firms in the Bootheel with the experienced guidance and training support they need, in order to grow.  The Center offers comprehensive services, such as one-on-one business counseling, at no cost. 

In addition to the following programs, non-credit community interest courses such as Spanish, children's cooking school, computer skills, and ballroom dancing are offered.

THREE RIVERS COMMUNITY COLLEGE--KENNETT CAMPUS
Three Rivers Community College is a comprehensive, public, two-year college.  The college opened a regional campus in Kennett in 2005.  It provides affordable freshman and sophomore level college courses, as well as career and technical training.  The college is also planning an expanded, state-of-the-art new facility and campus on land recently donated to the school by the Emerson Co.  It will be accompanied by additional curriculum offerings, as well.  Follow the link:  www.trcc.edu

The Kennett Career and Technology Center provides career-technical programs of excellence for both the youth and adults of Dunklin County. The goal is to help high school and adult students secure rewarding employment that will improve the quality of life for themselves and their families

KENNETT SCHOOL OF PRACTICAL NURSING
This school was founded in 1973.  Housed within the Kennett Career and Technology Center, the program accepts and trains 20 students each year.  The school has an excellent track record:  Graduates of this program consistently receive high scores on their state exams, and since its founding, only one graduate has failed to earn state licensure. 

ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
This program is also housed within the Kennett Career and Technology Center.  It assists people in completing requirements for their high school equivalency certificate.

MO CAREER CENTER & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT--KENNETT BRANCH

As part of its mission to create applicable solutions to the workforce needs of our community, the Missouri Career Center assists local training facilities in preparing that workforce.  The Center offers job seekers assistance with access to thousands of jobs in the state, and the opportunity to prove and improve job skills.  It also offers career exploration tools, workshops and resume assistance.  Several training programs are also available to assist job seekers in gaining the skills necessary to get a job or start a new career.  These training programs can help by providing funds to train a a college, university or other educational facility.  The Center's staff can assist job seekers in determing their eligibility for assistance with the cost of training.  Follow the link:  www.ded.mo.gov
